I love swimming in fresh water and I've always dreamt of having a pond big enough to swim in. In 2008, I decided to try and make my own natural swimming pool. Back then, there was very little information available on their construction but from what I could glean, I could see they were unnecessarily complicated and not particularly effective. So I invented a new way, using bubbles: suitable for DIY installation, no chemicals, low energy, with a circulation system so animal friendly, a frog could pass through without so much as a bruise.
But what is an Organic Pool? Organic Pools, or Natural Pools invite nature to provide hygienic water for swimming. The vibrant ecology of plants and animals condition the water so there is no need for any chemical disinfectants. These pools are healthy for people and wildlife.
I have worked as a BBC camera man/director and started making films about ponds which has now led to 100k+ subscribers on YouTube. Over the last 10 years, with films and DIY courses, I have helped and shown thousands of people to make their own pool. Making your pool takes a lot of work, but after all you will be saving tens of thousands of pounds by building it yourself. And I can't think of any work more rewarding than creating a pool.
I'd like this space to serve as a resource for Organic Pool makers and to build a community which will contribute to the content. I will be providing films on a variety of pool related subjects: DIY, planning, building and maintaining the pool, ecological and lifestyle aspects, as well as behind the scenes content. There might be occasional scribbles, drawings, paintings and pool examples demonstrating the flexibility of the designs.
And hopefully, us diggers and dreamers can make something precious; a little bit of wilderness you can dive into.
